The brass sits down.
The strings sit back.
The big band is still.
There's nothing more to play.

The floor is clear.
Of dancing feet.
The only thing I hear.
Is the click of your heel.

And I blow smoke.
In an empty glass.
It's the break of dawn.
And you're nowhere to be seen.

Smoke city rolls by slow.
As I raise my hand.
For one last long island ice tea to be mine.
And it's a broken dawn.
And all I want.
Is this one last glass.
And I'll be gone.

When in doubt.
Keep it coming strong.
Filled to spill.
This cup is all there is.

I know a void.
In nights ahead.
No one to hold.
No belly to kiss.

A loss for words.
At your retreat.
Now I shout out.
Cause you won't be.

Loved.
